Legal Procedures

Staffordshire STEM Centre is a dedicated unit of Staffordshire County Council and is affiliated to the Transforming Education Division. We are a strategic partner of Business and Education (Be) Together Ltd and Staffordshire University.

Privacy and Data Protection

Staffordshire STEM Centre is registered with the Data Protection Agency and complies with Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire University Privacy Policies.

We are mindful of the need to respect young people’s privacy and that of individuals who communicate and work with us. Part of our remit is to report on activities and events we deliver to partner organisations. However, we do not supply data to third party organisations. Our policy is to make schools, colleges and hosting organisations aware of this requirement.

Photography, Video and Recordings

It is our policy to seek official permission whenever photography or a video recording is taken of pupils attending or engaging in our activities. This is done through a request statement, which is included in Permission Slips. We use this material for purposes of marketing and publicity. If permission is not granted, we ensure that no images or materials are taken of the young people affected.

Contracting and Invoicing

Our partner organisation Be Together manages on our behalf all Contracts and Service Level Agreements. Invoices are raised through the Staffordshire County Council's payment system and payments are expected within 28 days from date of invoice.

Health & Safety

Staffordshire STEM Centre complies with the County Council's H&S Regulations and Guidance. Members of our staff have been trained as Educational Visit Coordinators. They regularly conduct risk assessments for activities delivered within schools and other hosting organisations. We have knowledge of the assessment procedures required by industry but mostly we conduct risk assessments in the format preferred by education. Our policy is not to undertake any activity or an experience that has a potential of high risk.

If you have any queries or wish to receive further information regarding our policies and procedures, please write to Malcolm Eyre, Director, Staffordshire STEM Centre, C146 Beacon Building, Staffordshire University, Stafford, ST18 0AD.
