I'm a Scientist, Get me out of Here! is an online event that gets school students talking to scientists online, learning about real science and How Science Works.

One of the benefits for you is that as it's online, scientists can take part without leaving the lab, so it's perfect for ambassadors who can't spare the blocks of time for school visits - or who are perhaps intimidated at the thought of speaking in a school. It's also supported by well-tested lesson plans, developed in consultation with teachers, so it really does make teachers lives easier and help them teach How Science Works. It's also a really fun event to take part in, so encourages both scientists and schools to do more in future.

In 2011 we're running events in March and June. We'll be choosing the schools to take part in the March event at the start of next term, and scientists shortly after, so please pass this info on to those you think may be interested, so they have time to sign up. This award-winning event is free to schools and funded by the Wellcome Trust.

Your students talk to real scientists online, learn about How Science Works and vote for the scientist they think should get a grant of £500.

 

The event is supported by well-tested lesson plans and resources and has been developed in consultation with teachers.

 

Suitable for years 9-13. The next events will be in March and June 2011.
