Production Lines . . . An Exciting Primary Activity

Flexibility and Teamwork are essential ingredients to solving manufacturing problems!

This activity highlights how industry competes in a global market place and enables pupils to understand how mass production needs to be as cost effective as possible.

The key to modern manufacturing in world markets is lean manufacturing, and having a competitive product that markets to consumer want or need. If a production line comes to a stop, it costs companies a large amount of money for every minute of lost production. Organising the production process has to be carefully planned to avoid manufacturing problems. Each individual has a specific role to play, but they also have to be flexible and prepared to do other things as and when the need arises.
