Case studies are an increasingly popular form of teaching and have an important role in developing skills and knowledge in students. The disciplines of Science, Engineering Technology and Maths are ideal subjects for case study teaching because of the wealth of practical, real life examples that can be used to contextualise concepts.
Recognising the inherent value of case studies, Staffordshire STEM Centre, in collaboration with industry partners, have been developing case study materials to be used in BTEC First, GCSE and GCE levels. Topics of interest are Science, Business Education, Enterprise and Health Education.
The aim of the case studies is to give teachers a resource to use when preparing for or following on from a visit.
